가슴이 뜨거워진다 Metallica가 국내에 알려진 건 1986년 'Master of Puppets' 앨범 발표 직후다. 기존의 헤비메탈에서 들을 수 없었던 더 강하고 빠른 음악에 난리가 났다. 거의 동시에 그들의 2집 'Ride The Lightning'도 해적반(빽판)으로 나왔다. 3집, 2집 순으로 들으며 그 시절 메탈 키즈들의 가슴은 뜨거웠다. 정말 활활 불탔다. 누가 트래시 메탈을 발명했는가? Metal Hammer지에 재밌는 기사가 올라왔다. "누가 트래시 메탈을 발명했는가?" Who invented thrash metal?Motörhead나 Venom이 트래시 메탈에 영향을 미친 밴드이긴 하지만 본격적인 트래시 메탈로는 보기 어렵다. 더 빠르고 강력한 본격적인 트래시 메탈의 탄생은 1983년 Metallica의 데뷰 앨범 'Kill 'Em All'이란 평가에 큰 이견은 없다. Am I Evil? Metallica에 결정적 영향을 준 밴드로 Diamond Head와 Budgie를 꼽는다. 쌍팔년도쯤 청계천 빽판 가게에 갔다가 Diamond Head의 앨범 'Borrowed Time'을 접했다. 책에서나 보고 전영혁의 음악세계에서나 듣던 앨범이라 한달음에 집으로 와 턴테이블에 걸었다. 단연 이 돋보였다. 후에 가사를 보고 왜 'Am I Evil?'이라 외치는지 이해가 갔다. 가사는 이렇게 시작한다.
