TransPacific의 유일작 Transatlantic이 'Bridge Across Forever'를 녹음하며 재미삼아 Deep Purple의 를 남겼다. 클랙식 중에 클래식이니 그냥 녹음하지 않았다. Neal Morse가 Drums을, Mike Portnoy가 Bass를, Pete Trewavas가 Keyboards를 맡았다.  Roine Stolt만 그대로 Guitar를 맡았을뿐 서로 연주 악기를 바꾸어 연주했다. 그래서 Mike Portnoy는 TransPacific을 결성했다는 농을 남겼다.졸지에 TransPacific의 유일작으로 남았다. 2024. 8. 16.
수다는 우리네 힘 Transatlantic 두번째 앨범 'Bridge Across Forever'(2001) 녹음 때 일이다.Neal Morse는 Spock's Beard 유럽 투어 때 암스테르담에서 길을 잃고 어느 작은 클럽에 갔는데 그곳에서 자메이칸 비트로 비틀즈의 를 연주하는 밴드를 만났다.암스테르담에서 듣는 자메이칸 리듬이라 신기하기도 하고 그 곡이 비틀즈라 더 희한했던 듯싶다.  그때 이야기로 Transatlantic 멤버들과 수다를 떨다 자연스럽게 잼 연주로 이어졌다. 잼이 끝나자 닐은 "좋아! 보너스 트랙 하나 건졌어"라며 쾌재를 부르곤 녹음을 마친다. 언제나 그렇듯 수다는 우리네 힘이다. 2024. 8. 9.
In Held (Twas) In I 2022년 4월 29-30일 이틀동안 9번째 Morsefest가 열렸다. 팬데믹 제한이 풀린 공연이자 Neal Morse Band가 아니라 그가 몸담은 Transatlantic의 공연이라 더 뜻깊었다. 첫날은 'The Whirlwind'를 통째로 공연했고 'Kaleidoscope'에 수록된 와 그리고 2000년 이들의 데뷰작 'SMPTe'에서 와 를 연주했다. 이 가운데 Procol Harum의 클래식이자 역사상 첫번째 프로그레시브 에픽인 는 이들이 처음으로 선보인 라이브였다.둘째날은 'The Absolute Universe' 앨범과 함께 을 엮어 메들리로 연주했다. 21세기 슈퍼그룹인 이들의 연주력은 당대 최고로 손꼽힌다.언제나 엄지척이다. 노르웨이 숲, 이스터 에그 찾기 살다 보면 뜻밖의 곳에서 아는 이를 마주칠 때가 있다. "어!"하면서 반갑기도 하고 놀랍기도 하다. 어떻게 이런 곳에서 만날 수 있을까 싶어 신기하기도 하고.. Transatlantic의 Duel with the Devil을 들을 때 그랬다. 19분 25초 무렵부터 익숙한 멜로디가 흘러나온다. 어디서 들었더라? 이게 뭐더라? 아, 맞다. Beatles의 Norwegian Wood다.
