(1951/6/30- )필라델피아태생 

어릴때부터 피아노/바이얼린/첼로(렛슨)등 모든악기에 천재성을 보인 스탠리는 필라델피아 음악원(Philadelphia Musical Academy)에 진학 더블베이스로 정진했다. 재학중(70년/19세) Horace Silver에 발탁 재즈계에 입문 이후 Joe Henderson Pharoah Sanders등과 협연하다 Chick Corea에 스카웃 전설의 RTF(Return To Forever)의 일원이 되며 스타덤에 오른다. 

많은 평론가들이 "자코" 이후 최고의 베이시스트라고 극찬하는데...
