Porcupine Tree의 <Anesthetize> '마비시키다'의 후렴구다.
이 가운데 'cod philosophy'가 난해하다. 'cod'는 생선인 '대구'를 칭하는데 여기서는 그 의미가 아니다. 
그럼 무슨 뜻일까? Scholarly Community Encyclopedia에 따르면 cod philosophy를 pseudophilosophy '사이비 철학'으로 설명한다.
'Only'가 '오로지 돈을 목적으로 한'이란 뜻도 있으니 "Only MTV, cod philosophy"는 "오로지 돈을 목적으로 한 MTV, 사이비 철학" 쯤으로 이해할 수 있다.

이 가사의 바로 앞 부분을 보면 뜻은 명료해진다.

I'm watching TV, but I find it hard to stay conscious
I'm totally bored, but I can't switch off
TV를 보고 있으나 제 정신을 차리기 힘들어
정말 지루한데 끄기 어렵네

결국 "Only MTV, cod philosophy"는 오늘도 TV 채널을 돌리며 마비된 우리네 의식을 지적하고 있다. 
그래서 이런 현대인을 "쇼핑몰을 서성거리는 길 잃은 좀비"에 비유하지 않았나 싶다.
"We're lost in the mall, shuffling through the stores like zombies"
