(1947/3/15- )LA 태생 

어린시절 독학으로 맨돌린가 슬라이드 기타를 마스터한 라이 쿠더는 그의 재능을 눈여겨보던 Taj Mahal Band와 Captain Beefheart에서 프로데뷔. 이후 롤링스톤즈 Randy Newman Maria Muldaur등의 세션에 참여하면서 Fan들보다는 뮤지션들사이에서 존경받는 아티스트로 거듭난다. 1970년(23세)에 솔로 데뷔앨범을 발표 그의 음악은 Cajun/country/bluegrass/blues의 복합적 장르를 자신만의 것으로 재창조해내는 천부적 재질을 가졌으며 보틀네크에 의한 슬라이드는 Paris Texas에서 부에나비스타소셜 클럽에 이르기까지 타의 추종을 불허한다.
