UK group formed in 1969

Original line-up: Keith Emerson-Greg Lake-Carl Parlmer 

Keith Emerson revealed classical background while with "Nice" and used that group to introduce knife-throwing Organ Thrashing musical mayhem act 

Nice broke up in late '60s and Emerson began search for special talent to make up next venture 

Emerson met Lake (then with the original King Crimson) and convinced him to join

Eventually Carl Parlmer (ex-Chris farlowe/AtomicRooster and Arthur Brown) whose background prepared him for Emerson's dynamic stage show was recruited 

ELP live debut was 1970 Isle Of Wight festival followed
